Three
Amigos... Gringos... Old Dudes
Two
Daves and a Chuck,
With... Three Babes, What Luck!
(OK,
It's lame, but it's my web page!)
Two
hours north and west of Barona Mesa across the web of ubiquitous
southern California freeways amid a desert valley of endless
strip malls, warehouses, factories and teeming gas guzzlers,
lies an oasis of green trees and lawns, cozy homes and a college
campus, seemingly plucked from somewhere in Iowa or Indiana.
It is Claremont, California, home of the Claremont Colleges,
the Claremont Graduate University and its Hollis P. Allen Professsor
of Education, Charles T. Kerchner and his lovely wife Leanne.
So it was that on a warm October Saturday, Paula and Dave hopped
in the convertible and made their way north to visit Professor
Kerchner (better known to his irreverent high school chums as
"Chuck" -- hmmm, Professor Chuck?) and visitors from
both coasts: Sheba Solomon from Redondo Beach and the guy who
fled the vapors of DC Virginia to follow her, if only briefly,
across country, Mr.David Stroh, Esq. -- attorney, destroyer
of cars and fellow graduate of BCHS.
As
the photos below attest, it was a fine evening of good conversation,
good wine, and good food, the hosts' gourmet reputation well
confirmed. An all-too-brief gathering to be sure, but good intentions
for more filled the air and the emails, so we'll look forward
to more of the same!
