Welcome
Cassidy!
So, here is Cassidy, born around
Christmas 2001 -- a date frought with portent
-- at points unknown. A female Australian Shepard
mix -- probably
Lab -- her history before late April 2002 a blank
chapter, she gave us that "look" at
the Helen Woodward Animal Center with one blue
eye and one brown that said: "take me home,
please." And, so we did, tagging her Cassidy,
as in: Butch CASSIDY and the SUNDANCE Kid, get
it? Yeah, OK, nevermind, she comes when called.
Of course, she also wants to eat Sundance,
an unfortunate instinctual hazard requiring a
lot more repressive training or, more likely,
parrot biting.
Like Folly, she's a smarty having
already learned a stock bag of tricks including
roll over, sit and lie down. A formal six-week
training course begins June 8, which should help
increase the discipline quotient. She has a happy
and accepting temperament and is calm around people,
kids and other dogs and, like all puppies her
age, she loves to play, tear around the house
and jump on the bed whenever the urge strikes.
She recently survived a birthday party with a
house full of adults and young rambunctious kids,
so she should be fine when John, Patricia, Nathan
and Dedra come visiting at the end of the month.
